Deka Lash Update
After just reopening Deka Lash Company last week, business began to boom once again. Although Deka is not nearly as busy as they used to be, they still managed to pick back up rather quickly after the stay at home order was lifted. Upon reopening each lash technician has been able to book appointments every day that they work and everyone is able to still see the majority of the regulars again.
Deka Lash does require customers to wear a mask upon arrival and customers must wear them for their full appointment as well. While the employees have always worn masks to avoid the heavy fumes, they now have more of a reason to wear them.
Many people are still nervous to go back into the world after the storm that COVID-19 created, but many women are excited and happy to have salons reopened again. For many Deka Lash employees, it was their first full time job and most did not have any other financial compensation coming in. Most lash technicians went on unemployment so this reopening has created hope for these lash employees.
No one knows what is to come in these next few months, but Deka Lash Company is thriving upon its' reopening and not just customers are the ones that are excited.
I'm happy and nervous about places opening up again. It feels like everyone got bored of being inside, so we just went ahead and opened up, when in reality COVID numbers are shooting up in many states.
ReplyDeleteAnother concern is of course the livelihood of the technicians at places at Deka Lash Company and others. Those people need jobs and a way to support themselves.
It is good to hear that they are following good protocol. And it is nice for the public to be able to go get those self care things done. I know I really want to go get a pedicure, but I think I'm going to wait just a little longer!
ReplyDeleteI was fortunate that my job was essential, so I got to keep working and make money. But I feel for everyone whose job was considered non-essential and have been struggling to make ends meet. I have plenty of friends that work in salons, or are barbers, and I know that they’ve really been struggling, so it’s nice to see these places opening back up and getting an opportunity to make money.
I've been living in Lafayette, CO this summer, and it as well as it's neighbor Louisville, have implemented a required mask ordinance that basically says you can't enter a business without a mask. Just as well, Main Street Louisville has cut off a part of its street to allow more people to sit and dine while maintaining social distancing by utilizing tables in the street. It's fascinating to see how the world has been adjusting to the pandemic outbreak.
ReplyDeleteThis post is really well written. I love how you narrowed your topic down to one place of business. My blog post is about Covid-19 as well and I haven’t thought about focusing on just one business for my post. I usually cover several business's or restaurants in my posts.
