Closing Blog for June

While this is the first time that I have ever blogged in my life, I enjoyed it the first time around. My topic was interesting to me because a lot of people that are in my life were effected with their jobs in one way or another.

Due to the pandemic that we are all facing, I also knew that I was not the only one seeing friends or family members stop working. When coming to such a halt like that it can be concerning whether you will make it through the storm or not. I have seen both of my parents worried about getting laid off and have seen some of my friends having to file for unemployment. It is tough and I did not want people who were labeled as an unessential worker, to feel alone. There are many businesses going through it right now and in a way, all nonessential people are fighting this fight together.

While it was difficult sometimes to keep longer updates on these three businesses, I managed to ask just the right amount of questions. I followed along other blogs and tried to adjust my writing style accordingly. Blogs can be difficult if that week was not very interesting, and I found that it was easiest to write my blogs when something bigger was happening, but it became hard when the story was not that crazy.

I think that if I were to blog again I would only do one to two longer posts per week in order to give more time for things to occur and narrow it down to only two stories maximum. This would create more time for events to happen and allow me to only focus on one thing at a time.

I enjoyed writing on this beat because it personally affected my family and friends and I also knew that there are millions of other families going through the same situation. While I would keep the same beat, I would probably only focus on one business to follow.

I think that blogs are a great way to share stories and connect more personally with your reader. Blogs create a way to be more personable and allows you to share your own opinions while following a beat. I only wish that I had known the dedication that it takes to follow three businesses at a time because at some points that was exhausting.

Overall, I think that blogging is a great way to share ideas, experiences and information to other people that share that same common interest. I enjoyed blogging this summer and I am excited to see where one of these businesses might take me.
