More Positions Available?

    With the numerous amounts of layoffs that United Natural Foods Inc. has endured, the company now is pulling up some of their own employees to fill the shoes of former employees. While UNFI has lost a portion of their team, those who are still with the company are being interviewed and examined for promotions. The company now has less employees and are able to keep the same pay for those employees that are still there. 

    Many Zoom meetings, Skype calls, and conferences have been taking place these past few weeks in order to help decide current employers positions at UNFI. Buyers are all in competition to get to the next promotional level. 

    For buyers, many wish to be promoted and given the opportunity to have more responsibility within the company while also getting to be paid more. The next position higher for a buyer is a forecaster. This job requires a lot of responsibility and can carry a lot of pressure and stress. 

    Forecasters are a position that requires people to create forecasts or predictions regarding the amount of certain products that will sell in a store. They forecast the number of products and then give that prediction to the buyers to buy the products for the next month. 

    To some this may not seem like that hard or complicated of a job, but in reality you are predicting that month's sales and giving those numbers to someone else to buy the products. This means that forecasters have the power to control the amount of items that you see on a shelf. 

    By using previous month's and annual product sales, forecasters are to use that and determine the correct amount of product to order. This is a big responsibility to have while working for the company and although it seems like a difficult job, many buyers are still willing to take the stress and pressure in order to get this promotion.

    For some it could be the financial compensation, while for others it could be the increase in responsibility and pride for one's work. Either way, in a pandemic anything remotely positive has the capability of keeping our spirits up so why not go for it? 

    Not only does it keep employee spirits up, but their families as well. Any promotion is something an employee should be proud of, but if he trade-off for free weekends, more family time and an increase of stress, then is it really worth your wile?
